Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Indianapolis, IN

Finding the appropriate level of care for your needs is essential to achieving lasting healing. The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Options Behavioral Health Hospital provides care for adults whose struggles with a mental health concern and co-occurring substance use disorder have disrupted their daily lives.

Program Overview

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Options Behavioral Health Hospital provides therapy and support services for adults ages 18-65 of all genders who are suffering from a mental health condition such as depression, generalized anxiety disorder, or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

We also provide care for adults who have developed an addiction to alcohol, cannabis, or other substance in addition to the mental health concern they are struggling with. This is known clinically as a co-occurring substance use disorder.

The least intensive type of treatment we provide, our IOP is ideal for adults who have completed a higher level of care and can benefit from step-down support to facilitate an effective transition home.

Adults who participate in the IOP at our hospital complete three hours of treatment, three times a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, for a total of nine weekly hours of care.

Typical program participation is four to six weeks, but our expert team determines the specific length of time any individual remains in our IOP based on their personal needs, progress, and goals.

As is the case with all programming at Options Behavioral Health Hospital, our adult IOP features clinically excellent care provided in a warm and supportive environment where all are treated with the utmost dignity and respect.

Our team of compassionate professionals places a premium on establishing and maintaining close relationships with patients and their families. This ensures that each person who heals with us receives focused attention that empowers them to achieve long-term recovery.

Care Experience

Every person who participates in the adult IOP at Options Behavioral Health Hospital follows an individualized care plan, which we customize to their specific strengths and challenges.

To accomplish this, you will complete a comprehensive assessment of your medical history, the nature and severity of your presenting concerns, and your treatment goals.

Group therapy is foundational to the care experience in our adult IOP and includes process and psychoeducational groups that cover a variety of relevant topics, such as:

  • Disease management education
  • Self-care tools and strategies
  • Stress management techniques
  • Implementing recovery tools
  • Maintaining abstinence
  • Relapse prevention plans

Depending on your specific needs and goals, your care team may also recommend individual therapy. Because no two people respond to therapy the same way, we use a variety of evidence-based interventions based on your individual circumstances. These may include:

  • Integrated combined therapies (ICT)
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational enhancement therapy (MET)
  • 12-Step facilitation therapy (TSF)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Systems therapy
  • Reality therapy
