What Is Telehealth?

Learn about the benefits of telehealth

Telehealth is a virtual communication method that securely connects you with a healthcare provider through your computer, tablet, or smartphone so that you do not need to be in the same location to receive careAt Options Behavioral Health Hospital, we have widened access to the services we provide by offering telehealth solutions, allowing you or your loved one to get professional support from the safety and comfort of your own home.

We offer several telehealth services to ensure that you and your loved ones continue to have access to the highestquality mental health and addiction treatment programs, including:

  • Telehealth assessments
  • Telehealth intensive outpatient programs (IOPs)
  • Televisitation

There are numerous benefits to telehealth that make this method of care an ideal option for many of our patients. Through virtual assessments and telehealth therapy, individuals who are unable to come to Options Behavioral Health Hospital in person can still receive a patient-centered, personalized care experience. Our virtual visitation services also help our patients stay connected with those closest to them when other barriers limit their ability to visit our facility.

Once social distancing restrictions have been lifted, we welcome all telehealth patients to seek care in person at our hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Telehealth Assessments

Telehealth assessment process at Options Behavioral Health Hospital in IndianapolisIN

One of the first steps to getting treatment that is tailored to your specific needs is understanding the type and level of care that best fits your current situation. At Options Behavioral Health Hospital, we conduct comprehensive assessment of every individual who seeks care with us to determine if our facility is the right place for them.

As part of our telehealth services, we offer tele-assessments over the phone or through video, so you have the flexibility to receive an assessment from whatever location is most convenient for you. Here’s a brief overview of how it works:

  • Contact us 24 hours a day, seven days a week to start the virtual assessment process.
  • During your phone or video assessmenta member of our team will ask you some questions, such as about what kind of symptoms you’ve been experiencing, your treatment history, and what you hope to achieve by seeking care with us.
  • The telehealth assessment is a conversation, so you are welcome to ask any questions you might have about the treatment experience or other topics related to your care.
  • Based on the information you provide during this discussion, the professional who conducts your assessment will recommend the type and level of care that is right for your current needs.
  • If Options Behavioral Health Hospital is the best fit, you will then discuss the admissions process.
  • If our team member determines that you may benefit from care at another facility, we can provide appropriate referrals to other trusted providers.

We offer telehealth assessments free of charge, and participating in a virtual assessment puts you under no obligation to receive treatment at Options Behavioral Health. Our goal is to help you get the information you need to make the best decision for your specific circumstances.

Telehealth Programming

At Options Behavioral Health Hospital, we offer two telehealth intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) for adults age 18 and older. One IOP is for adults who need care for mental health concerns, while the other is for adults who are experiencing both a mental health disorder and a substance use disorder (referred to clinically as dual diagnosis).

You or your loved one can expect the same high-quality care when using our telehealth services as you would when seeking in-person support at our hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. As with all the care we offer, we tailor each person’s experience through our telehealth IOP to the specific symptoms and experiences that led them to seek care with us.

One of our highly experienced licensed mental health counselors leads psychoeducational and process group sessions through an encrypted videoconferencing program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Telehealth group sessions cover the same topics as in-person groups, including recognizing unhealthy thinking patterns, understanding how to manage emotions, and learning how to change harmful habits.

We integrate many different evidence-based modalities into our treatment approach to help you or your loved one build a foundation for lasting recovery. While participating in our telehealth IOP for adults, you may experience:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Rogerian or person-centered therapy
  • Living in Balance program

For some patients, certain prescription medications may support them through the healing and recovery journey. If our care team determines that you or your loved one may benefit from medication, you will meet with a psychiatric provider through encrypted videoconferencing services while participating in telehealth therapy.

Each person’s therapeutic experience is completely individual, but most people receive care in the telehealth IOP through Options Behavioral Health for four to six weeks or a total of 12 to 18 sessions.
